Earlier this month I met Lauren and Chuck for a sunset engagement portrait session at Blandy Farm. Lauren was hoping for that golden glow in her photos and oh-my did we get lucky with a gorgeous sunset! They brought along five-year-old R.C. for a few family photos and he was quite the scene stealer in his button-down shirt and cute cable-knit sweater. Congratulations to these lovebirds on their engagement!
Earlier this summer, Becki and Chris married on a gorgeous ranch in the Shenandoah Valley. They exchanged vows with their children and siblings at their side, and then celebrated with barbecue and barn dancing. Despite a few pesky summer showers earlier in the day, the skies cleared just in time for their ceremony and thankfully allowed for a late-night fireworks display!
There were so many special touches and tears throughout Becki and Chris’ wedding day. Becki gave Chris’ sister, who also served as her maid of honor, free rein over all the floral design with just her wedding palette as guidance. And oh-my-goodness the flowers were amazing! Shades of mint, peach, and pink flowers adorned the altar and the bride’s bouquets, and the groomsmen wore succulent boutonnieres. At the reception, Becki’s youngest daughter read a beautiful poem that she had written just for the occasion! My favorite part of the poem was hearing her describe how Chris greets them each day when he comes home from work with the words, “hellooooo, family.” So sweet!
I’m so happy for these two, their family, and feel especially honored to have photographed their day! Congratulations, Becki and Chris!

Savana and Brady married over Memorial Day weekend in a beautiful, shoreside wedding ceremony at Lake Anna. They both got ready at The Seay Point House which was abuzz with wedding day activity when I arrived — family making hors d’oeuvres in the kitchen, the bride and her bridemaids getting hair and makeup in the great room, and the groom’s party tucked away in the media room. After Savana slipped into her lace gown with a gorgeous blush underlay and plunging back, she met Brady under a tree for their first touch. They shared a prayer while holding hands, exchanged letters, and the bride shed a few tears as her groom smiled.
Just a couple hours later, they walked down the aisle and said I do. I loved looking back through all the special parts of their ceremony — their pastor brought Brady’s favorite hat for him to wear, their parents joined them under the arbor, and just today I noticed that Savana’s dad held her hand tight as they walked down the aisle. These two are all about family and so it was fitting that their parents, brothers, sisters, niece, and nephews all stood by them during the ceremony.
Ever so fortunately, the rain held off until minutes before the newly wedded couple made their entrance into their tented reception! Whew! They held each other during their first dance with rain pouring down in the background and wind whipping through the tent. Savana’s reaction is priceless! After cake and cake-to-the-face, they danced the night away under the lights and lanterns. I’m so happy to have met these two and shared in their wedding day! Congratulations to Savana and Brady!

The second half of Sarah and John’s anniversary portrait session took place under the blossoming apple trees at The Barn at York Hill. As we were planning their session, Sarah asked if they could setup a picnic in the orchard. I love it when couples bring their own ideas to a session and this one was perfectly executed thanks to Sarah’s mom! She setup the picnic with a delicious cake just like the one from their wedding day and courtesy of Bijou’s Sweet Treats, and arranged gold-dusted macaroons and a champagne toast with their wedding flutes. Their reaction to the champagne popping is priceless! If you missed Part 1 of their anniversary portrait session, click HERE! Congratulations again to these two lovebirds on their upcoming anniversary!
