The second half of Sarah and John’s anniversary portrait session took place under the blossoming apple trees at The Barn at York Hill. As we were planning their session, Sarah asked if they could setup a picnic in the orchard. I love it when couples bring their own ideas to a session and this one was perfectly executed thanks to Sarah’s mom! She setup the picnic with a delicious cake just like the one from their wedding day and courtesy of Bijou’s Sweet Treats, and arranged gold-dusted macaroons and a champagne toast with their wedding flutes. Their reaction to the champagne popping is priceless! If you missed Part 1 of their anniversary portrait session, click HERE! Congratulations again to these two lovebirds on their upcoming anniversary!
In late April, I met Sarah and John at The Barn at York Hill for a springtime anniversary portrait session. We wandered all over the farm stopping at the same spots where we took their wedding portraits nearly one year ago! Sarah even carried a lovely bouquet just like the one on her wedding day! The weather was slightly uncooperative with a few sprinkles here and there, but Sarah’s colorful dress and the blossoming apple orchard brightened up their portraits! Not to mention, these two just look so happy one year later! I have so many favorites from this session that I split it into two parts! Be sure to check back next week for Part 2 including their picnic under the blossoms complete with champagne and cake! And if you’d like to take a trip down memory lane, you can view their engagement and wedding here and here! Congratulations to Sarah and John on their upcoming one-year anniversary!
Last fall, I met Becki and Chris at their house to kick off a roving engagement portrait session in the Shenandoah Valley. We drove to a nearby farm that they pass every day for a few photos at the barn and then ventured out to Lake Laura. It was a beautifully sunny day and even without leaves on the trees, the lake was the perfect setting for this outdoorsy, water-loving couple. I just love all the colorful canoes in the background of their photos!
Becki and Chris met years ago but reconnected in 2015. Soon after, she started receiving packages of deer jerky in her mailbox. 🙂 I’m pretty sure she knew they were from the new man in her life, but her daughter was ready to launch a CSI investigation to find out her secret admirer. 🙂 This past summer, Chris whisked Becki away on a beach trip and proposed! So sweet!
On a personal note, I’m so happy for this girl! I met Becki three years ago at my cousin’s wedding, and have taken senior portraits for both her daughters. Early on, I knew Becki shared my love of photos when she didn’t think twice about hoisting her daughter up onto a giant haybale just to get like two shots!
Congratulations to Becki and Chris! Can’t wait for your big day!
Last month, I met little Canaan James just shy of his one-month birthday for an at-home newborn session. He was wide-eyed at the start of our session and dozing off in Mom and Dad’s arms by the end. I have so many favorites from this session, but be sure to check out the last one — the little guy was obviously tuckered out after so many photos! Congratulations to Bekah and Caleb on their precious addition to the family!
